About EBS
Our History
A fully permitted, insured, and integrated Regulated Waste Management Company.
Research for what would become Environmental Biological Services began in early 2012. At that time, entrepreneurs John P. Fulkerson and R. Vance Fulkerson Sr. were considering a new business concept that would serve the local and regional community in a profound and needed way. After a period of thought-provoking due diligence and discussions with family and professional contacts, they realized the need for an honest, dependable, and safe local option for facilities and individuals who need assistance with the collection, transportation, disposal of Regulated Medical Waste (RMW). The proper handling, collection, and ultimate disposal of regulated waste streams has become increasingly challenging for Healthcare Providers and Facilities through governmental legislation and increasing regulation.
There are multiple regulatory agencies at both the state and federal level that affect regulated waste services and impose a variety of complex compliance requirements, including obtaining and maintaining government permits. Regulated waste is subject to onerous environmental protection laws, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards that apply to most aspects of the business, and ADEM and DOT transportation laws regulating the transportation of these waste streams and other potentially infectious materials. In early 2013, EBS became a fully permitted, insured, and integrated Regulated Waste Management Company.
